My 3 week old dd is on lactofree enfamil. And has horrible gas. she stuggles and sometimes cries just to pass gas. At times does get a bit constipated. My question. Anyone else have a baby using this formula? Is this normal? What is good to relieve constipation? I have used the gas drops and they help a bit. Thanks

We use this also - try adding a little prune juice to the bottle before you give it to her - that is what we did and it works great!

My DS is going to be 4 months tomorrow, and he is on LactoseFree Advance Simulac...I believe it the something...But anyways he has a hard time passing gas so I give a little bit of 100% apple or grape juice and put him on his tummy and this has seemed to help a lot...

Someone told us to put caro syrup in the bottle or either brown sugar.

Hello, you may be aware of this but there are techniques to relieving gas that involve massage. I'm not a mommy, but my aunt & uncle's son suffered from colic and they used it quite regularly, and I have seen it work :) This is what they did:
Have baby on her back and place both hands (flattened fingers or just your palm for now as your whole hand will probably reach her chest, but your whole hand can be used when she's older) on each side of her tummy. Very gently & slowly twist your hands in a clockwise motion and apply a tiny bit of pressure to the left side of her lower belly as you go. When your palms reach the centre of her stomach, lift up your hands, and repeat.
From seeing my little cousin experience this, they usually had a satisfactory result within minutes, if you know what I mean :p I think it took a bit of time all in all for it to take effect though. They would put him in a football hold (head in palm, stomach resting inbetween arm and chest) afterwards to help relieve him a little more.
He's almost 3 now and actually asks them to do this when he has gas!! :)
Oh, and I just researched the technique a bit and the information I found said it's helpful to do this before a meal, and at bedtime for better sleep. Good luck!

Well we actually never had to do it. He got straightened out on his own, it was a really small amount, like maybe a 1/4 tsp each time, but check with the dr or someone else just to be sure. That was about three months ago, and I barely remeber what I did three minutes ago!
good luck
