View Full Version : Rawness & Pain after Bowel Movements

Please Help......I'll start by saying that I usually have a bowel movement every day, they seem normal, fairly soft but not diarrhea(sp?), no blood in stool. However, often times I have to wipe many, many times....once clean I feel very raw, and there is often times small amounts of blood on the paper. There is a strong stingy feeling (very painful) that lasts half a day or so, is always gone after sleeping overnight. I have been to the doctor once, she didn't find anything on the inside, said I was a bit red, didn't seem worried in the least. Gave me some medicated powder, which really didn't clear it up for good. This is very irritating since it causes me pain on a daily basis. Should I go back to the doctor? Does anyone have suggestion as to anything I could use, creams, etc.??? HELP...

For now, you could try using neosporin...it might help you heal more quickly. Or you can use hydorcortisone cream just for relief.

If you wipe too much with paper, you are probably causing small abrasions. My suggestion is to take a bath or shower after your BM. Or buy some wet wipes, the kind you can get near the toilet paper aisle, or you can use baby wipes. Then, make sure you are dry, maybe with a hairdryer or baby powder.

Cleanliness in that area is very important for healing.
