iam new to this i have been having bowel and stomach problems for a while doctor treating me for ibs but i get bad pains in the stomach i have had sigmoid done in feb and endoscopy in june 2005 only piles and anal / fishures were found i have no blood that i can see but now have to have colonoscopy done any one got any ideas what it might be pain is on right beside appendix and allso the left iam 54 female no cancer in my family

Maybe Crohn's disease or colitis? They should take samples of your colon when you have your colonoscopy to check for diseases. Be sure to ask about this.

I have pain on the lower left, and next month I'm having a laparoscopy done to find out if I have endometriosis or other adhesions. I've already had ultrasounds, CT scan, and intrauterine biopsy, so now this is the next step. If they don't find anything, I'll be headed for a colonoscopy myself.

thanks for getting back to me can u get crohns at 54 i thought it was just in young people but i will keep posted when i get results of colonoscopy

Hi Mrs Pigin. I am 28 years old and have crohns and my Father is 56 and was just diagnosed with crohns a year ago, so it can happen at any age. Unlike my Dad, I can't remember not having the disease..lol. It really effects me more than my Dad. Please get it checked out and schedule a colonoscopy. There are many meds that can be prescibed to help with the symptoms if you have crohns. Keep us posted!

hi heather thank you for your reply i am going to se doctor at the hospital on monday hallowween may be he will have a idea what it might be i get bad stomach pains and iam not bleeding that i can see ind i have not lost weight yet i think stress is making me eat any way i will let you know how i get on hope your dad is keeping better
