After you have a root canal, do they then put a filling in? If so, what kind, gold or white or what? Then they ususally put a crown on, right?

It depends on the overall condition of the tooth. Many root canal procedures are finished off with a regular filling. Keep in mind, the purpose of a root canal is to remove infected nerves. The drill bits used are very tiny. You may have to make multiple visits to have the complete procedure. The holes may be filled with medicine.

You can have whatever color filling you like.

If it is any comfort to you, my brother just had a root canal a few weeks ago and he said the tooth felt much better once it was all done. He wasn't in severe pain during the procedure and he didn't miss any work. He even ate my mother's cooking afterward. That stuff will make anybody's teeth hurt.
