I was just reading another post where someone was 4 months post-op microdiscectomy and said they jog 2 miles a day. I am 6 months post-op and I thought it would be risky for me to jog. I used to go running but I worry I could herniate my disc again. I am feeling good. I have no pain. I walk every day about a half hour. I even will run from one room to another in my house or jog sometimes. I am like a cat I guess....lol. I just wonder what the risk would be to jog outside down the sidewalk or on my treadmill.

I think this question is one that should be answered by your doctor! What is alright for one person may not be safe for another and jogging does put a lot of stress on the back. Personally, I think walking is better for you anyway.

Yes, I definately would talk to my doctor before ever doing that.

I am 9 months post fusion and I run 4 miles 5 days a week. My Dr did agree that running puts alot of stress on the back. I guess that I am a bad patient and probably not a good example but I can not help myself, I have always been a runner and I think that it is in my blood. Melinda

It's great to hear from people who are doing well after surgery and can run. So many people on the board have problems and can hardly walk and are in constant pain. It's good to see the success stories. Just like mine is a success story too.
