I've been on Mircette since Jan. of this year. My insurance just sent me a letter saying that I would have to pay full price for Mircette, but I could get Karivia, the generic for a cheaper price. So, yesterday I started on the Karivia pack. My question is, will I see anything differant while using Karivia and will I have to use other protection for 7 days because I started a new pack of pills, even though it's suppose to be the same? I have a bit of a stomach ache so I don't know if it's from that or not?
Thanks
Sharon

My period is completely different on generic v. brand. That is the only difference I have noticed. I'm not on Mircette but I was on Desogen (same maker as Mircette) and tried generic Apri (same maker as Kariva).

There is no difference between these 2 products. The active ingredients in each are chemical identical, and each product provides the same effectiveness. It isn't necessary to use a back-up method for 7 days, because you're still taking the same drug, it's just manufactured under a different name.
