Hello,

Seaching the internet I found this board about back problems. A week ago I fell off a roof and fractured L1 & L2. Went and saw a surgoen and he put me in a brace and took me off work for the next 4 weeks. All I was told to do was wear the brace while I was up and, no bending forward. I can take the brace off to sleep (which is the most painful part of the day). He told me to come back in a month to start rehab.

Has anyone else had the same type of diagnoises? He said I would heal back 100%. But reading some of your stories I'm thinking a little differently.

Thanks

Welcome Fat Dog,
I was in a roll over accident 12-13-04 and have been suffering from compression fractures of my t5,6,11 and a burst fracture of t9. Do you know what kind of a fracture that you have? Have you seen a spine specialist? When I first went to the emer. room they did a x-ray and told me that I have a compression fracture of t-9 and that I would be fine in 6 weeks. Well once I saw a spine dr he had a mri done on me and found out that there was a whole lot more going on. I am still in a lot of pain although not as much as I was the first month. I still need to wear my brace at times.

So to sum it up- make sure you get a mri done and you see a spine dr.

The Dr's told me that I didn't have to wear my brace at night too but I found that I did better if I wore it. My fractures are in the thoracic spine so I found sleeping on a wedge helped. I don't know if it would help you or not. You could give it a try.

I wish you well and if I can help let me know.
Tirzah
