ive been spotting all month pretty much on my third pill pack of ortho lo..[im still a newbie] but now im on placebos and still spotting..but how will i know when my period is actually here?! like since ive been spotting im not going to know if its my period or spotting still. im so scared that it means that im pregnant..[the spotting] if i end up not getting a "period" this month..what do i do? continue to take the pills next month? i havent missed any pills..and i take them religously at 9pm ..the most ive been late is 9:30. ahh help

I've shared with you several times that this in no way indicates that you're pregnant. If you've used the pills perfectly, there is a very, very, very small chance that you're pregnant.

I honestly recommend that you contact your physician and ask for a pill switch as this point. You've been worrying about this for sometime, and it's silly to get all upset over something that can be fixed. Call your doctor immediately so that s/he can prescribe a new brand (if s/he thinks that's the best idea) for when you're to start your next pack. If you don't want to switch, then yes, keep taking 1 pill everyday as directed.

Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo isn't strong enough for a lot of women, so you're not alone. You may just require a slightly stronger amount of hormones each week to prevent spotting. But, this doesn't mean that effectiveness is compromised.

Assume that the "spotting" during your inactive week is your period. Since the body doesn't go through a "real" period while on the pill anyway, it would be really difficult to tell if you're spotting or having the withdrawal period (which you probably are).
