Hello all. Question. I'm taking a multi-vitamin currently. I take one 3 times daily. Along with other vitamins it has 500mg of calcium and 250mg of magnesium. The question: Can i add a combo supplement of cal/mag to help relieve the jittersand edgeyness? If so how much more? I just don't want to overdue it on the two. Should i get something that has both? just magnesium? Look forward to hearing back from you guys.

You're taking a multi vitamin 3 times a day? If so, that's probably what is giving you the jitters! Usually, multi's are taken once a day. Try that and see how you feel.

Really? "I never heard that before. Why do they do that? And do you have any suggestions on what to take? I need to take something because i'm hypoglycemic but I definetly don't want the shakes more than I have them already. Thanks for the information. Hope to hear back from you.

Hfd154,
I agree with Singer. Some vitamins are toxic in larger doses. Vitamin A for one.
Too much magnesium can cause diarrhea.
There are things which can help regulate blood sugar. Cinnamon is one of them. There's another one, but can't quite remember the whole name. Picolinate something, or Something picolinate.
Have you tried smaller meals and more protein? Low blood sugar jitteryiness can often be relieved by protein consumption.
I don't know if your everyday vitamins would help with the hypoglycemia.

Were you having anxiety before you started the vitamins? If the anxiety started when you began the vitamins you had better switch brands because maybe the brand you are using has fillers or something that you react to.
If you already had problems with anxiety before you could try 500mg of niacinamide and 3 grams of vitamin C twice a day. That works for my nephew except he actually uses the other non flush form of niacin, but niacinamide is easier to find.

I had the anxiety problems before i took the vitamins. I eat properly for being hypoglycemic. I'm just trying to be a little healthier and settle the anxiety naturally. The vitamins i use are metagenics multi-vitamins without iron. Be interseted to hear more. Thanks for the replys.

Chromium Picolinate is recommended for hypoglycemia 200-300mcg, check your supplement to see how much is in it(if any). Simple carbs cause the normal chromium excretion rate through your urine to increase by 300%.
Have you been tested for candida albicans ? This is a yeast that grows in the gut out of control and can get in the bloodstream and cause symptoms of anxiety, hypo, allergies and fatigue. You can get a test at your dr for antibodies against C. albicans, but treatment is best carried out by a naturopath.

You should also check to see if it is being caused by a food allergy. Any food can cause "mental" symptoms but gluten and milk products are the most common. Try reading the book "Brain Allergies" if you want to know more about this.
Our nephew was in an accident and could not eat anything for about 5 days and his anxiety/panic symptoms went away, he was also unable to take his vitamins, so we know that they are caused by something he eats but I think he will continue using the niacin and Vitamin C because he is 19 years old and isn't the type to want to change his diet. The niacin and vitamin C work because they reduce allergy symptoms, my husband uses them for asthma that is caused by something in the air during summer.
Keep trying to find out what is causing your anxiety, if you keep working at it you will succeed in the end in finding something that helps.

KIME,
It's funny you say that. I eat alot of dairy products. My diet usually consists of cereal in the morning, sometimes without milk, ham as a snack, tuna or chicken for lunch and chicken or turkey burgers for dinner, usually on white bread. I wonder if it could be any of those?

If you want to find out if you have a food allergy causing your symptoms you have to stop eating the possible offenders for 4 days. If on the 5th day you feel better, then you try reinstating the items one by one starting with the least likely offenders.
Anything can cause allergies, but you might want to try stopping the dairy products and wheat products first for 4 days because they are the most likely. You need to be aware that these allergies can be like a kind of addiction and if you stop eating the offending food you can feel worse for the first couple of days and crave the food, like a kind of withdrawal from drugs, because the food is actually working like a kind of drug in your system. If you do feel worse at first, be sure to hang in there for the full 4-5 days because it is actually a sign that you are on the right track. You do not need to replace the dairy products, and you can eat rice and potatoes instead of the bread and cereal, oatmeal should be OK, too, because I don't think oats have gluten. Whole grained rice is less likely to cause problems with hypoglycemia than refined rice.
