MY SYMPTOMS
I have had some of these problems for more then 9 years. I have been to the doctor for some of these symptoms. And often feel like I am being dismissed or have been told it has something to do with my depression. I feel like I am losing control of my body at times. I have a family history of MS.
These symptoms often get worse with fever, heat, & stress.

Slurred Speech ~ Husband has asked if I were drunk a few times.

Balance ~ Often bumping into things and loss of footing.

Small Motor Skills ~ Often drop things and have a hard time picking up and drop several times before I do get a hold of it.

Headaches & Shooting Pains in head.

Vision ~ Spots or blurred at times.

Bladder ~ Increased frequency of urination, urgency, dribbling, hesitancy, and incontinence.

Bowel ~ Constipation, diarrhea and incontinence.

Muscle Spasms.

Numbness, Tingling, prickling feelings in arms, fingers, elbows, & wrist.

Fatigue.

Memory ~ I have gotten lost in areas I have traveled often, & could not remember which way to go. I forget everything if I don’t write it down.

Impaired sexual sensation, diminished orgasmic response, and loss of sexual interest because of this.

Joint pain ~ elbows, knees, ankles, neck, wrist, fingers, hips, and toes.
:(

I just had a MRI done yesterday. Doctor told me, if he see's nothing there that is in my head. I don't like doctors and only go if maybe once a year or if in a lot of pain. I am not making any of this up and sick of being treated like a nut WHEN I do go to the doctor. I just started going to the doctor about a month ago. And once back in July for Uti with fever and my arms were numb for 4 days. All my SYMPTOMS were 100x's worse! My doctor did start with blood and pee test which all came back normal.

Thanks for your input!

I also wonder if the MS (if it is) could be the cause for my depression? I have 2 uncles and my grandpa have MS. And have has it for many years. I just now started wonder if it is MS. Today I am feeling really tired! And I hurt. I am really scared! I want it to be MS but then I don't. I want it to be MS because aleast I would have the answer to my weird body malfuctions. I was just wondering what others think of this?

Thanks,
Sheena

Your symptoms could be MS, but they could be a list of other things too! That's the tricky part of MS, as i'm sure you know. It's hard to get a clear cut diagnosis... but the first step to getting it is finding a neurologist who will listen to you and not brush it off as depression. When you get those MRI results, I would see what your doctor says, and then take them over for a second opinion. If it were me, I would push for more testing... evoked potentials and spinal tap. I can't imagine that all those symptoms you listed could be chalked up to depression. Good luck with getting some answers!

Depression can cause alot of things for sure but what you are describing is the symptoms of MS. If the MRI comes back normal that does not mean you do not have MS, lesions are not always visable at first. I would deffently look for another doctor. He does not sound very surporting. Any doctor who says " its just in your head" just does not want to put the time into it. jewels.

Thanks ibejewels77! I've had just about all the sx Sheena4Kids has plus some different ones. When my brain MRI came back normal, my family doc asked if I wanted medication for depression. What amazed me is I didn't even start to get depressed until the 4th or 5th week of being sick! I think most docs think depression in the problem and not the sx. I was supposed to see an Neuro on the 11th, but lost my job since I missed three weeks of work (even under Dr's care) so I no longer have the income or insur for the $250 office visit!
I've actually started feeling better since last week (sx started mid August) I don't have all the sx anymore, just a few of the more managable ones (twitching, joints ache, some headaches, etc.) The dizziness, vertigo and staggered walk were the worst for me. Hopefully it was just a short term thing. I guess I find out if they all come back.

Look at it this way....

You are losing certain functions such as balance and coordination, you slur your speach, and people think you're drunk...

I would find that VERY depressing.

Depression is nothing to be ashamed of, and often just talking about it to someone DOES help.

Most of the posters here have writen that they've been depressed at one point or another with their Dx or Sx, and I'm not at all surprised! Anytime someone loses something that they enjoy can bring on an episode of depression.....

Try to deal with it as best you can, get professional help (especially if you are thinking of harming yourself) and try to find ways to compensate for your loss.

When you read the posts here, you'll see that there are many ways of dealing with the stresses of MS, including humour, hobbies, anger, frustration, and even relief. Relief???? yes, indeed. Several of the posters here have expressed a very profound relief to finally have a Dx, so they have a name for their troubles!

I know it's really hard to imagine the cup as being half full when you see it as half empty, but try to find three things that are good about your life every day (they can be repeated if you need to) Also, don't be afraid to be bitter! When I went thru a divorce, I promised myself to be bitter exactly 3 times a day.... eventually, it became a struggle to be bitter anymore. But once you've used up your bitterness quota, you have to try to drop it!

Thinking about you and hoping that you will soon start to feel better....

*hugs*
