[B]Hello everyone I just came form the doctor, I asked him about some choking sensations i am having while on inhalers, i mean i feel like my throat is closed up havent been able to eat for 2 days and feel horrible, the other day as i was eating i almost choked, it was very scary, now all I have is that fullness in my throat, what can i do i am on advair, albuterol and also I use the albuterol in my nebulizer, I think this started after using advair, since I have been on it for a short time i will look up the side effects of each but something is causing this.

I am so upset my throat is so closed up , I dont know what to take for this i guess i am allergic to advair, since my throat feels horrible I am getting so anxious about this sicne it feels horribly swollen, can I take anything to get teh swelling down?

Looking at all your posts, I'm not sure if it is the advair. I think you are very allergic to something in your house, maybe mold, and when you use the advair you can breathe in deeper, and it is causing a severe reaction? That is just a guess, I'm not saying the advair isn't the problem, because it could be. I was mistakenly diagnosed with asthma and put on advair and it made my heart race.

Your throat closing up is a systemic allergic reaction, and regardless of what is causing it, you need to get yourself to the ER if it happens again. Ask for an prescription for an adreneline syringe.

Hi I still feel the tighteness on my throat, and your right i dont know if its the mold or the advair, but i feel clogged up even though I took benadryl, I am not feeling any better, cant eat a thing, anyway what is the adreneline syringe? can they prescribe it or is it an IV?? does that opne up the throat, one more thing would prednisole help this? I was thinknig of going to the ER since i am straving and cant eat, feel dizzy etc..

I am off to the ER, I called my doc and the nurse says he said i should go to the ER, he is by far the worst doc, I was there yesterday and he didnt even tell me to stop the advair, he saw how swollen my throat was, anyway he is a nice doc but I usually am the one who tells him what to prescribe me!

he never knows about anything, i found out I had hashimotos from hypothyroid, because i went online and found out the tests etc... he never knows much about anything nice person but horrible doctor, so I willl not go to him anymore, plus his nurse always tells me to go to teh ER, it's too much work fo rher to call meds for me, so she send s me to the ER, GRR I am so upset needless to say I havent eaten and have a bad headache, dizzy, low BP, and my sugar isprob low, hopefully if the mold or advair caused this the Er can help Thanks

JennyVee I hope you are okay. Your throat closing up is a symptom of a severe allergic reaction. It can progress into shock and you could possibly die. I hope you got proper treatment and are okay.

And yes, it sounds like you need to find another doctor.

HI, Thanks for your advice

I went to the ER and got a cortisone shot on my rear end, it hurts a bunch and I hope i dont die from this, but i did get more prednisole and they took a chest xray and said i had no airway obstruction he says most likely the advair caused this.

he told me that maybe the thyroid goiter that I have grew, but how could that happen in a few weeks, I am so lost with this, the swelling has not improved, I will start the prednisole pills tomorrow morning, i am so anxious about this, i am straving and wish i could eat something, I just cant wait till this is over since this is by far the worst punishment for me-being without eating isnt fun, I am starving

I didn't mean to scare you. They wouldn't have let you out of the ER if your life were in danger. It very well could be you thyroid. Thyroid problems are sometimes linked to allergies.

Adviar contains Serevent which can aggravate GERD. I used Serevent for a year and all that time had severe GERD. I only realised after a while and once I stopped using it my symptoms disappeared. GERD can cause a lump in throat sensation, swallowing difficulties, amongst a whole host of other symptoms. The Serevent causes GERD by relaxing the muscle at the top of the stomach - allowing stomach acid up.

Its just a thought. Because you are not eating you are probably not generating that much stomach acid though.

Oh my lord your so right I have GERD, and had no idea the servent could causes this, goodness I wonder why the pharmacist doesnt mention any of this to me when I pick up my meds.

I was thinking that it might be esophagal spasms, even though i do get them but this swallowing issue came on suddenly so I am sure its the advair, I also read the servent can cause the throat to close up.

Thanks so much for your advice, anyway today I woke up feeling better the throat its opened up some, the shot was slow acting but I took the 5 prednisole pills today that was prescribed, I also prayed alot and i know god had alot to do with me feeling better today, I hope i eat something becuase today is my 4th day with no food, and I feel so nauseas. Thanks for your reply and god bless

I am glad I was able to help. You could ask for Flixotide on its own which is the steroid element of advair and a good gentle steroid, and singulair which is a very gentle airway opener (tablet). This may well suit you better in the longer term. I am very glad you are feeling a touch better today and I hope you do manage to eat something. Best wishes and take care.

I'm so glad you are feeling better. It sounds like Tesss might have solved the mystery of the advair. It sounds like you are having a tough time lately. I hope you start to get some answers and get well soon.

I was having hallucinations about food lol! anywya needless to say I wont take any asthma meds with servent ever again.
