View Full Version : Post wisdom tooth extraction

Lori

Hi!
I got my lower right wisdom tooth out Monday, on Tuesday I ended up vomiting from either the antibiotic or the pain meds, they took me off both medicines.
I am now concerned of getting an infection...they didnt give me a syringe either. Does everyone get antibiotic after they get their wisdom teeth out?
How many days before you are safe against dry sockets?
Another question, I know I cant eat popcorn/nuts for 3 weeks, how about rice?
Thanks http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
Take care,
Lori

Hi Lori. My dentist put me on anti-biotic also both before and after my extraction today. He didn't tell me how long I was supposed to be on them, so I will call him tomorrow ( because I don't like anti-biotics and I don't want to get sick..I hate meds period)

Hi DotRat http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
Thanks for replying to my post! I replied to your post just a few minutes ago.
I got sick from the medicine I took because of a combination of two things:
1.) I didnt eat much with the pills (I just wasnt hungry and not in the mood for pudding! *laugh* I've learned my lesson)
2.) They had put me on very strong medicine where its very common for people to get sick from them.
Usually when doctors prescribe antibiotics, you are supposed to take them untill the bottle runs out.
Good luck and Take care http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hi Kerry!
Yup, there was no nerve damage http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif When I first got there the surgeon told me we werent going to pull the tooth because of how close it was to the nerve, then we took another xray and he said "Ok, I have a clearer picture now I think we can do this" And it turned out ok! Yes, you were right http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wink.gif
When you do get the rest of your wisdoms out it is a lot better the second time cuz you know what to expect!
Thanks for caring http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
