I just started Nuvaring a little over three weeks ago. I had been on Yasmin for 2 years before that. My day to take out the nuvaring was this past Saturday (4 days ago). How long should I expect to wait before my period starts? I haven't had any bloating, cramping, moodiness, bleeding, or anything yet. Normally with Yasmin it took 2-3 days after the last active pill.
I don't want to sound bad but my boyfriend is coming to visit this weekend (he lives over 3 hours away) and I really don't want to have my period when he's here. I know I'm not pregnant because I haven't seen him since before my last period right before I started with Nuvaring. Is it too late to just put in another ring and skip this period or is that not going to help? I really don't know what to do at this point.

Your period should come 2-5 days after taking out NuvaRing. However, it's not uncommon to skip a period when first starting any method of birth control.
You can try to skip this period and put a new ring in now, however, you'll need to put your next ring in earlier, as well. For example, if Friday was your start day originally and you put the ring in today, Wednesday would now be your start day.

Thanks for your help. My period did start this morning, almost 4 days to the minute after I took the ring out.
Another question though, how long should I expect it to last? On Yasmin, my period would last for 5-6 days, but on Ortho Novum it would only last 2-3.
Is there any chance that putting the ring in now would shorten my period? Is that ok to do?

It might shorten your period, or you might spot for several days. There's no way to know unless you try it.
Women using hormonal birth control normally have 2-7 day periods. Again, this is different in each woman. The cycle is normally longer when first starting birth control, then shortens over time.
While it's ok to try to skip periods, it's best to consult your physician to make sure that this technique is ok for YOU. A simple phone call should give you the OK.

I am on my 4th Ring and with me I take it out on Sunday and my period is comes on Weds. and it's usually gone by Sunday when I put a new one in. However, I did notice that this week I stopped completely on Sunday but started bleeding a lilttle bit again on Monday but it was gone by the nighttime.
