nailproblems

Hi,

I have three nail problems involving my middle finger which I'm guessing are all related. First, the sides of the nail won't grow. The sides are also ever so slightly lifted from the nail bed. The middle of the nail grows though , making the nail look pointed. I'm constantly filing the middle so as to make the nail look even. This makes the nail extremely short though. Secondly, there is white dryness around the top edge of the nail. I'm used moisturizers, etc..nothing really seems to work. Third, the cuticle on this finger doesn't really attach to the nail itself. It grows, just not on the nail. I'm constantly trimming it with cuticle cutters. My nail has been like this for a number of years. I've tried anti-fungus OTC meds with little success. I'm not even sure if that's what I need!

Thanks for ANY help.

Sounds more like a yeast infection to me. yeast (Candida) will also effect the nails, so you might want to see your physician. Yeast is not affected by OTC fungal treatments.
