Recently my girlfriend and I have begun having sex. Our first time I didn't wear a condom, but insisted on it our second time. And insist on using some form of birth control from now on. But there are a couple of serious problems. The other night when I put on a condom things were going fine, but I soon found out she has a Latex Allergy. She has Spina Bifida and has had many surgeries through out her life which is the main reason for her allergy. I suggested pills but she told me about serious emotional reactions she's had to the pills she's taken in the past. She told me that she's very sensititve to hormonal changes. I'm aware of non-latex condoms and will use them until we find a more effective means of control, but are there ANY suggestions anybody may have as far as other effective forms of birth control? Are there any pills that may not have such a strong effect on her hormones or emotions. Any help you can offer would be great! Thank You.

What about a non-hormonal IUD? Your guys' best bet would be to talk to her family doctor, or to go to a planned parenthood clinic. Her doctor would be able to explain all different options.

As for the pill, it is trial and error to find the correct pill. How long was she on the pill and which type was it. One thing to try might be one of the lower dose pills.
