Hello...
Uh, my name is Mary and im 17.
Well to cut straight to the point,
I Binge eat.
Yeah, I know that people do that once in a while...
But I am getting out of control,
Almost everyday when I come home from school, I will spend 5 to 10 mins
eating...
Then 20 minutes later, I will eat more,
Its like I'm never full!
I dont know what to do,
I cant go to my doctor, cause I have no insurance,
I cant tell my mom, she will never understand,
Yeah.. Obesity runs in the family,
But this Binge-eating isnt good.
I just need support from people that have problems like me,
I just need to know that I am not the only one that is suffering from this problem.
Will you guys accept me?

Mary, of course we will accept you! Welcome to the boards and I'm glad you came here to talk about what's bothering you. it's the first step to getting better, so you're doing great just by recognizing that there is a problem.
binge eating is tough. i was/am anorexic, but for the past year i've been dealing with serious binge eating problems (like i eat until i feel like i'm gonna puke, but i don't, so i just feel like $hit the next day), so i know how disheartening binging is. there are some ways to avoid it though. first thing, are you sure you're eating enough during the day at school? i remember when i was in high school (before ED, loved food and didn't really care how much i ate) i would always come home and snack A LOT before dinner. i was just hungry then and it's logical -- i hadn't eaten since lunch, i was a growing girl and i needed a snack. i probably ate too much some days, but i didn't worry about it, so it wasn't an issue.
you need to make sure you eat enough healthy, planned snacks during the day so you're not ravenous when you get home. that is one of the most effective ways to counteract binging, keep yourself nourished so you don't get so hungry you go straight for the Chips Ahoy and eat too many of them (because it also takes around 20 minutes for your body to realize its full).
how much do you generally eat after school? maybe you're not even eating too much, and you are just worried it's too much. i think you should plan on eating at that time (since you're obviously hungry), but it might help to plan WHAT you're going to eat in advance. for example, have an apple when you leave school. that way, you've gotten some good nutritious food in ya' and by the time you get home, some of the fullness will begin to set in. then have a planned snack when you get home (cheese and crackers, pretzels and mustard, granola bar and some yogurt, whatever you like!) just DON'T eat anything out of the package. set ou your planned amount nice on a little plate, put away the packages, pour yourself a big glass of water and then go into another room and sit and enjoy your snack. drinking the water will help you feel full also! after you're done, DO SOMETHING ELSE. something totally not related to food. i remember NEVER wanting to start my homework right away after school, but try something else that focuses your mind but doesn't stress you out. TV isn't always the best, but some things that work for me are: playing the piano, reading a book, doing a puzzle, going on a walk with headphones (the music really helps!), plucking my eyebrows (weird, i know!), talking on the phone, etc. if you can get your mind off it, you'll give your body time to realize it's full and you'll be able to hold out till dinner.
sorry this reply is so long, but i really feel for you and wanted to give some tips that work for me. planning seems to be key for me (although i'm also anorexic, so i LOVE the control over the calories. ugh.). That way, i have what i'm going to have and i stop and move on with my life. good luck and let me know how it goes!

you really gotta eat throughout the day, hon. i guarantee that's why you're eating so much after school and why you seem to never feel full no matter how much you eat. your body is just REALLY hungry by that time! work on the breakfast thing, just start with small things, or maybe bring a little something to eat after your first class instead of eating before if it makes you feel queasy. that way you're still getting some nourishment, but you won't feel sick because you'll have been awake longer. also, there is really no excuse for not eating lunch. you need it and you're hurting your metabolism severly by going so long without eating. take it from someone who knows, not eating enough will make you like 20 times more likely to binge, so you've gotta do it. i know it seems counterproductive to think of eating more during the day when all you want to do is eat LESS after school, but trust me, it works. if you keep your body full and satisfied all day, you won't be tempted to overeat after school and you'll probably end up eating less overall. good luck!
