Hi everyone,

I'm posting this for my grandmother. I'm a bit concerned. Well actually I'm freaking out something is seriously wrong with her.

This is whats been happening the last.....7 weeks I'd say. It started off with a flare up of asthma. Wheezing all the time, coughing (chesty and can hear phlegm), coughing up phlegm which varies from white and green, tiredness and dizzy spells. She's also been getting pains in her left leg.

The doctor gave her 5 different courses of antibiotics all in the space of 5weeks. Then she was given nothing. I got her a Xray off the GP (doctor in uk) and she had that done 2 weeks ago. I phoned up the doctor last night and was told her Xray results are in and she needs to see the doctor. I asked why and they wouldn't tell me. I asked for the GP to call me that afternoon and he hasn't. What could it be based on her symptoms?

She's been having a LOT of hot sweats where she wakes up soaked through to the skin. She is diabetic and suffers from heart disease. She can be sitting watching TV and suddenly shes taking off her t-shirt because she's so hot.

3 weeks ago my nans sister died due to caner of her throat and abdominal cancer. She had no idea she had this. Noone did. She was rushed into hospital one day and died a week later. A autopsy revelaed throat and stomach cancer. My nan is very scared she's got this. Could it be cancer? She does have chest pains which go through to her back along with the above symptoms. She hasn't lost weight and is over weight. She's always been a big girl.

She does also have episodes of diahrrehea which is really bad. If you use your imagination you'll get what I mean. Think loads. This happened today.

Another thing I'm worried about is COPD. My dad had this along with 2 other types of lung disease which destroyed his lungs and killed him. My dads, grans son. Could it be this? Is it inherited?

What do you think it is? The GP hasn't rang me yet and I don't think he will. I have a appointment monday morning at 11am to see him with my Gran but until then I would like some ideas so I'm not shocked. Gran is really freaked out and thinking pnuemonia, cancer, COPD..etc.

Thank you.

Might be wise to see a specialist. A gastro person.

Hi there and thanks for you reply. I heard from the doctor today. Her lungs are clear (thankfully) but her heart is enlarged.
