If I have hpv will I get cervical cancer for sure.... eventually? I have had 2 ascus paps, and now I have to go in for a colp. I am scared that I have hpv. I have had some slight bleeding after sex.... and lately it is more ofter. It is very light....just a spot or slight discharge when I wipe.... so I am pretty sure that I have it. And I am scared out of mind mind! Anyone have a similar experience? Please I need some words of advice or hope...
Please!

If I have hpv will I get cervical cancer for sure.... eventually? There are over 100 strains of HPV, and only some 5 or so that can go on to cause cervical cancer. Usually, it goes away on its own and you will never get cancer. This is a typical wait and watch scenario. The chances that you will progress to cervical cancer are slim, and since you are obviously under a doctor's care, it will never get to that stage if it turns out that you are that unlucky.

Oh, just want to add, when you consider that about 75% of the population will have HPV at some point in their lives, yet nowhere near 75% of the women are dropping from cervical cancer, I'd say it is definitely NOT a 'for sure' thing.
