I've been on Yasmin for over a year and I noticed my libido had decreased as well as my energy. I'm about to see an obgyn to talk about other options.
Are any of you taking anything that hasn't changed your drive? I'm looking into the patch or nuvaring. (I want something where I don't have to worry about forgetting to take it everynight.)

I was on Yasmin for a couple years without any problems.. went off all birth control pills for a year.. and started back on Yasmin in July. Since July, I have had no sex drive, breast tenderness all the time and night sweats. I talked to my doctor and she said to switch to Ovcon. I am starting on that tonight. I know that doesn't help much, but that is my experience.

I was on Yasmin for about 8 months and had the exact same problem. No sex drive and exhausted all the time.
My dr. switched me to Ovcon 35 - I have been on it for 2 months and it has made a world of difference. Sex drive is high and I have tons of energy. In fact, I pretty much want sex daily where on Yasmin, I didn't want to be touched!
Good luck.

Wow, that is great about the Ovcon! I hope it has the same effect on me. I am not on Yasmin, I am on Trinessa, but I have no sex drive, headaches, fatigue. i went to my ob-gyn today and she gave me Ovcon to try for three months to see if it would help.

Wow, thanks for sharing. I went to the doctor today and she gave me Low-Ogestrel. She said it has more estrogen hormones which should help increase my drive. But it this doesn't work, I'm going to remember to ask for Ovcon next time.

Actually, Low-Ogestrel and Yasmin have the exact same amount of estradiol (the estrogen). They do have different progestins, though. Ovcon, on the other hand, does contain a slightly higher dose of estradiol.
Anyway, give it a try. Perhaps the progestin will agree better with you and help your problems.

i'd been on alesse for a year and finally gave up because i didn't want sex at all. it happened gradually starting at about 6 months into it. i'm not on anything now but i'll have to ask about ovocon at my appointment next month. I want to get back on because I don't trust condoms and the pill really helps keep my cramps tolerable.
if anyone else has pills besides ovocon that are good I would love to know!!!

I want to report I've been on a new birth control for six months now. I'm using Lo-Ovral (generic) and it HAS made a difference. I realize that my libido was low because I wasn't enjoying intercourse... it was too painful because I was too dry! Even lubricant didn't help most of the time. Now that I'm off Yasmin, I haven't had problems since.

I was on Nuvaring for 2 years and Ortho-Tricyclen for 6 years. Both killed my libido. I just recently went to my gyno about this issue, and she told me that it didn't matter what hormonal birth control I used, it will all affect my libido. It is due to the over regulation of our hormones. She told me to go try Lo-Ogesterel for a couple of months and then, if I want to, switch to the non-hormonal IUD...no nasty hormonal side effects, and can be left in place for up to 10 years (although I want to get pregnant before then).
That's my story. :)
