Last Friday my husband had a semenalyasis done and we got the results back today he has a low count so my Dr. wants to do an HSG on me after my next menstrual cycle to make sure my tubes are open then he said we are a candidate for Artificial Insemination, has anyone else tried this and does anyone know if insurance covers this procedure?

It totally depends on your insurance. If it covers any type of infertility treatments, then the procedure may be covered, but most insurance companies do not cover infertility. I live in the midwest and my HSG cost around $700 and insurance did not cover any of it.
Good Luck to you and your DH.

Check with your insurance. When I lived in California, my insurance would have covered everything. Including IVF. I now live in a nearby state that doesn't make companies or insurance carriers cover any type of fertility treatments. My insurance covered nothing except the blood work.
I am considering IUI as well. My husband has low motility. My doctor has warned me that it's only about 10% successful over 4 visits though...doesn't sound THAT promising. But, it sounds more promising that the old fashioned way...which has been 0% effective for us over the last 11 months of trying! IUI is not covered by our national health plan here, but it's only about $500...WAY cheaper than IVF ($10000!). Let me know if you go for it...and whether or not you have luck. I'm going to look into it in January, I think.

I had Artificial Insemination 2 years ago and it didn't work. It was a very emtional process. I had to give myself shots twice a day and gain 20lbs. My husband has a low count and I have issues also which make it hard. It is worth a try to make your dream come true though. Everyone is different maybe it will work for you. My insurance didn't pay anything. Good luck to you keep us posted!

My insurance covered all of the u/s, most of the meds, but not the actual iui. The iui and the uncovered meds costed around $530. It was totally worth it though. I got a bfp on the first try. We had been trying naturally and with meds and bms for about 3.5 years. I have PCOS and my dh has low morphology.
I would take something for pain before the HSG. It doesn't cause everyone pain, but it was horrible for me. I'm not trying to scare you. I heard if your tubes are closed it can be painful. Mine were wide open and the pain was terrible. I took a Vioxx before going.
