Hi there. I'm having problems with my Asthma at the moment and keep having "gasping attacks" as well as wheezing episodes out of the blue. I've just finished a course of antibiotics which have nearly cleared up a horrible cough I had for 2 weeks due to the Flu.

I was given Singulair 10mg by my doctor. I take one table once a day at bedtime. I haven't been on this medication before. I'm currently on Ventolin, Beclazone and Seretide and now Singulair 10mg. I started taking Singulair last Monday and I haven't noticed any change at all. Should I of noticed a change by now and some improvement? My doctor wants me to try Singulair for 2 months and then go back to her but I'm not sure if I should wait this long because it isn't working?

Thank you.

Yes, it will take that long to tell if it's doing any good. It doesn't help everyone but it certainly does help some people. One week is not nearly long enough to tell.

Hello Titchou,

Ok thank you for clearing that up for me. I wasn't sure how long it took befoe it worked because my previous medication usually "kicked in" within a few hours to a few days max. Thank you. :)

I take Singulair, and I've been on it since July. I take one tablet before bedtime. I sometimes notice a change. I take it for my allergies mostly.

Do you take your Singulair with or without water? I take it without water. I just put it in my mouth and chew it. Can that make the singulair less effective?

I take singulair with water. I'm not sure if not taking water with singulair will make it less effective but it probably tastes pretty foul! Lol. Take it with water. :)

I don't know if it will take 2 months but I would say that a month is not unreasonable.

As far as chewing, with water etc. there are different forms. the form that I used to be on was not a chewable it was just a pill form...I don't think it would have tasted very good to chew it up.

I thought 2 months was a bit too long but I dunno. I've never been on it before.

I'm on the pill form too. :)
