View Full Version : Splitting Pills

Hi: This is going to be a rather odd question. I take 50mg of Paxil on a daily basis and usually it comes in two 20mg and one 10 mg pills. For some reason this time they gave me all 20mg pills so I had to split them. Well I was a little bit shaky that day so some of the cuts are uneven. Now I have been at this dose for awhile and all of the usual side effects are gone or I am use to it. Anyway now it seems like I am having odd side effects, today I am beyond dizzy and seeing two of everything. So the question would be would my uneven cuts of the meds lead to this? Would my body notice an increase or decrease by such a small amount, good duess less then 5mg?

Thanks for replying and take care

It is entirely possible for your body to notice a difference and be suffering from some withdrawal side effect because the dose is not exact.

I split Lexapro everyday. I take 20 mg and spilt them taking ten at 8 and the other at noon. If you push down on each side of the pill on the outter edge it should split right in half. You can also get a pill cutter. You may just be stressing (in your mind). Once I thought I forgot to take my Lexapro and was a mess when in fact I did take it?

my wife called the pharmacy and he said my body would not notice such a small difference so quickly as the smaller dose would be made up with the larger dose the next day

thanks for replying
