Nice ter meecha, everybody, I'm new here...anyways, my front left tooth and gums hurt...at first it was just a bearable pain, but after 3 days it hurts like someone is pulling yore tooth out without numbing first! The pain was constant, nonstop. No noticable swelling in the front, but I felt with my tongue a bit of swelling in the back...and I'm 95% sure that I DON'T have any cavities, 'cause when I sucked in some air (y'know when ye have cavities, you suck in air, it hurts) it didn't hurt. I put cold water from the tap on my tooth, and it was a big relief, but when the water got warm in my mouth, it started hurting again, so I had to drink and spit water about every 2 min. Finally, I got a ice pack and put that on...helped a bit, but it was a hassle. Finally my mom gave me Aleve, half of the pill, since I am 12 and under. I went to bed, and in the morning I felt it hurting again...but only if I press on it with my lip or finger, ect. Now I have trouble eating...so I am very hungry today. My mom says that it'll go away sometime soon, and she told me that I have the pain not in my tooth, but in my gums, so it makes me feel like I have it in my tooth. She also told me not to eat so much fried stuff, like fries, chips, ect. as which causes my pain. I'm just wonderin' if any of you guys had this experience before...thanx.

I'm sorry you are not feeling well. It sounds like you could use some help from a dentist. Is there a chance your mom might take you to see one? I hope you feel better soon. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wave.gif

I'm glad that at least you are feeling a little better. I hope the swelling goes down soon. When I was a kid, I had a lot of toothaches, so I know how much they hurt. Take good care of yourself.

If you have a persisent problem, of course you could ask your Mom if you should see a medical professional that could help you. You also might have an infection, if it spreads from the gums to the lip. I'm not saying that you do, but you might.
So, if you want, you could ask your Mom if you could rinse your mouth and lip out with some salt water. I use table salt and warm water, and then rinse and then spit it out. For me, it really had helped my gums when they were infected years ago, after I saw my doctor.
Note also that by eating healthy foods and avoiding too many chips etc., you could help your immune system to stay strong to fight infections.

Thanx for the info, rhody. I went to the emergency room on Sunday, er, I mean Monday, since it was about 3 'o' clock in the morning...the docter gave me a dose of antibiotic and said that I have a dental infection, or an abcess. I felt a little better, but there was still pain. My face was swollen and red up to my eye. Then at 9:30 A.M. I went to a clinic to check up on my allergies, and the docter there saw my face, and of course asked me what happened, so I told her, and after I went home to take a nap the docter at the clinic called my mom to take me to another emergency room to get an I.V. so I can get the antibiotic faster. A bunch of other doctors came and looked at me, and they said I had to go to the dentist first thing in the Morning. Then on Tuesday, today, I went to the dentist and he drilled a hole in the back of my front tooth to let the pus drain out, and maybe the swelling would subside a bit.

I am so happy that you have been to a dentist. I'm sorry things had to get so bad for you before you were able to go. It may take a couple of appointments to get everything taken care of, but it will make you feel better. I hope you will be smiling again soon!
