I have a hx of sinus problems and impacted wisdom teeth. Current sinus event started 3/3/02 to present. Constant post nasal drip, reddened and sore throat, coughing on discharge down back of throat, facial pain daily. Since 3/3 seen 3 MD's been on two antibiotics, no known allergies (been Tested)
no bacterial infection in throat(throat swab)waiting CT results sinus. My upper wisdom teeth are impacted. Could they be causing my sinus problems? Ideas???

The roots of all your top teeth go right up to your sinus cavity. Often times they actually protrude into this cavity. This is however normal and should cause no problems. If one of these teeth had an infection I could see how it could cause you serious sinus problems. Your dentist should be able to tell a lot from your x-rays.

I just had my wisdom teeth removed and when the Dr. removed one of the top teeth he actually opened a hole into my sinus cavity. This usually heals on it's own if you can refrain from blowing your nose, but it can cause a sinus infection. Hope the info. helps.
