View Full Version : Dead Tooth ---- Why ??

I discovered today that I have a dead tooth. I had a filling replaced in it about a month and a half ago. The tooth has never had any problems before. Did my dentist kill the tooth ?? Would it be from the drilling-out of the tooth or can too much novacaine kill it ??? Is there any recourse for me if he did.

Sometimes, when a filling is replaced in a tooth, the repeated trauma to the nerve can cause it to die. I recently had some of my old dental work replaced, and the same thing happened to me. It doesn't mean the dentist did anything wrong. Some people's bodies just react that way. I think in the majority of cases, the tooth can still be saved. Good luck to you.

I know what you mean. I'm about your age, and I can't wait to see what happens in another 20 years or so. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif Has your dentist recommended any treatment for your tooth?
