This is probably a stupid question, but after my wisdom teeth are removed Thursday, will the give me some pain killers and/or antibiotics or do I have to go to a pharmacy and pick something up???

They will give you a prescription for it, you have to pick it up.

I had a 4 impacted, but I didnt feel any need to take pain killers, but be sure to take the antibiotics

Another stupid question!! I've never had to deal with insurance too much cuz my parents always did all that crap, but now that I have to I'm confused. So now I need pain killers and antibiotics which theyll give me the prescription for, and ill go pick it up. Would my dental insurance (which seems to cover everything) take care of it, or since its a drug, does my health insurance take care of it? like do i need to bring my health insurance card to the pharmacy or will I have to pay in full and have my dental insurance reimburse me? i worry about these stupid little things only because im broke!!

first of all.. lets slow down.. are u getting put to sleep? if so, you are not going alone.. mmkay?

now, you should have a prescription insurance card. bring it with you to the pharmacy and im sure u have a copay.. mostly everyone does. so bring some extra cash with you..

they will give you meds.. Probably motrin/antibiotics/and some meds that make you high and groggy.. which i sure as hell needed.. i just got my stitches out today. i got one removed that was extremely impacted in bone. i was put to sleep.. it took her 40 minutes to get it out. So of course i was in pain. Just make sure you get some good drugs that will get you thru 3 days. Your are so much better after 3 days..

good luck

Ok, perfect, thats waht I thought about this whole thing. Yep co-pay but that's fine. I'm not getting put under which sucks!! I'm deathly afraid for tomorrow and am going to be embarassed looking like a chipmunk who can barely talk when i go pick up my meds, but nothing i can do about it, dont have anyone that can come with me :( Now i just have to worry bout it all day. so 3 days huh, i think i can manage that.

The oral surgeon that extracted my four wisdom teeth gave me all the medication I needed (4 days worth of vicodin, 5 days of penicilin (sp?), etc.). He also gave me a perscription if I needed more (which I didn't).

As far as insurance goes, it really depends on your plan(s). I have two friends that used their health insurance instead of dental to get winsdom teeth removed (they paid a $10 co-pay instead of 20%!!!!!). Because it was required surgery their health plans covered it. Check with your insurance company.

Good Luck!!!
