Ok so my dentist insists that I get my wisdom teeth out. But then, when I get to the maxiofacial surgeon's office, he acts like they don't need to come out. That was my first clue. So he takes them out, and here it is 4 1/2 days later and I'm still freaking swollen so bad I can't eat a cracker. WHY THE HELL DID I HAVE THIS DONE?

They were impacted, but they weren't really trying to come up. Just sitting there. I can understand wanted ing have them out early so that they dont fuse to your jawbone, but good god man! He must've had to use a roto rooter to get those things out of there by the look of my cheeks!

hi ya, ive posted a few times on dental forum about how scared i am to have my wisdom teeth out, mine are impacted also i have 1 right through that dontgive me any problem, 1 that is half way through that does, this could be why dentist took yours out so you wouldnt have to suffer like i do lol, im terrified bad experience put me right off and i started havin panic attacks, i spend a small fortune on keeping my mouth clean and on medications to keep infection down when it is bothersome i had that gum flap thing half over my tooth but it has moved back each time it grows abit more, I WILL NOT HAVE IT OUT!!!, lol maybe 1 day i might really have to . my other wisdom teeth are not far off breaking gum skin, i get occasional teething pains from them but i can live with that. i think also why your havin as much troubble now is because they had to dig them out , personally speaking i wouldnt go there!!! but look at it this way if you can there gone, your not gonna have any more bother once your mouth is healed itself. WELL DONE FOR GETTING IT DONE, AND NOT BEEN A SCARDY LIKE ME GOOD LUCK, GET UR SELF ON TO SOME DENTAL PAGES FOR TIPS FOR SWELLING ETC TAKE CARE XXXX

ewww.. i really think its wrong for you to post this here.. of course your in pain and swollen.. did u use ice packs or frozen peas for your face? i just got a wisdom tooth removed 7 days ago and i will not lie i was in pain.. but it was worth it because i will never have pain there ever again.. it wont ever bother me. after 3 days ur fine. of course u will still be a tad swollen and sore but comon now!! i was very swollen but thats supposed to happen because its a part of the healing process..

this post is going to scare so many people that need them out..

I had all four of my wisdom teeth pulled when I was 14. My orthodontist wanted them out before he put my braces on. He had them pull four existing wisdom teeth, so when the new ones came up from underneath, they would have a place to go w/out crowding my teeth. It worked, I was happy with results. It does hurt, but usually only for a few days and it's worth it. Are you taking your pain pills? Be sure to do that, and whatever you do, don't suck froma straw or smoke a cigarette. My sister did that and got a dry hole, which is the WORST pain I guess.
