I am wondering if it "hurts" me to swallow the green phlegm (sputum) that is associated with an infection.

NICHOLERINDOM 10-25-2005, 05:17 PM I am wondering if it "hurts" me to swallow the green phlegm (sputum) that is associated with an infection. Sponsor MsNancyDrew 10-25-2005, 09:02 PM HI! I don't think it would. But there are lots of smarter people in here that know things medically, I mean that are smarter then I about illness, *Thank God* for them and this board and the mods who keep it clean and safe. They would know better then I. I am sorry I couldn't be more of help. I hope you get to feeling better. ((((gentle hugs))) Ms N.D. p.s. I have swallowed and spited out the fleghm and for me it's better then swallowing it but I know when your that ill - well I understand- don't feel like trying to get to a trash can. Please, just take care and get well soon. Midget 10-26-2005, 12:02 AM I always spit, given the option...I think it's bettter for you to just get that stuff out, and not swallow it again. AllysHeart 10-26-2005, 12:10 PM When I have a problem with phlegm or sinus drainage, I spit into a tissue. I keep plenty in my car and at work and in my handbag so I don't ever have to swallow it. I think it is meant to be eliminated rather than re-introduced into the body thru the digestive system. |
