My dentist pulled out one of my baby teeth (i'm 17 by the way...) and there is no adult tooth to replace it so he's putting in an implant...can any of you explain to me how an implant works? is the implant tooth connected to some metal? 'cause if it is...i'm allergic to some metals...

An implant works a little like a screw. It is usually done with surgical stainless steel. A screw is placed into the bone & when that heals the dentist will take the implant & screw it onto the the screw that has been implanted into your bone. The outcome is very nice & looks wonderful! You will be pleased! You need to speak with your dentist & make sure that the materials he will use are compatible with your system!
Good luck & let us know how things go for ya!

Hi.

You may want to visit the ff websites- aae.org, talkaboutcosmeticdentistry.com, and drdorfman.com for more info on implants.

You can also try searching for the link for Oral-Maxillofacial Board. These links should give you a broad idea of the procedure.

Goodluck.
