Ok ppl heres the situatuion....A long time friend of mine is spiraling downward very fast and I have no idea what to do to help....I know I cant change her mind....So what do I do to get her some help???? I dont want to lose her forever but I feel helpless....In a way I want to tell her its ok but deep in my heart I know its not the answer...Can I change her mind and if so how? I have asked her to talk with a professional but she refuses to do it...I have asked her to check into a stress unit and she refused it...I feel like in a way she doses want some kind of help or she wouldnt have called...In a way I think it was her cry for help......BUT HOW?????

She needs medical attention immediately if she is thinking of hurting herself, if that means driving her to and ER and forcing her in or calling 911 to the house to come get her- that's what she needs, you don't want to have any regrets that you didn't do/say anything

firstly, you've done the first thing right, be there, be concerned, try to help. I'm not an expert at all, but follow the link in the sticky thread about suicide and the links from there give very good advice about times of crisis. Also don't let her feel alone, make sure she's able to talk to you, don't be judgemental etc. It's hard but coming here was a good step to take, if you need more advice come and post or have a look through the boards.

goodness, keep searching, think where she'd go to be alone. Good luck, hope you find her safely.

She has been located and her daughter is going to have her admitted into some kinda stress unit to get the medical attention she needs...

Thank goodness, how was she? Sounds like there's something you're not saying...
