A Friend and I were talking about Herbal Tea and she told me to limit how much I drink because it hasn't been approved by the FDA.She drinks 1 mug daily and is fearful if she consumes more.Is it harmful or was she being obsessive and worrying for no valid reason?

Tea is a food and certainly is under the jurisdiction of the FDA. I wouldn't drink too much tea with certain energizing ingredients, like ginsing, (not that they are dangerous, but you don't want to be wired.) But I believe herbal teas are safe and nothing to worry about. Any teas that make health claims, might not live up to them, but they aren't dangerous.
Was there a particular ingredient your friend was worried about?

I think that herbal teas are safer than most milk or meats that have gotten so "scientifically advanced" recently!
And as for the FDA approving them... looking at the FDA's record over the last few decades, I wouldn't trust much of what they said. It is nearly all politically and financially motivated, even if they do try to convince us otherwise!
Look at the amount of herbal teas the Japanese drink, and then look at their country's general health compared to ours!
I think that in general, herbal teas are as safe as the water they are made with! And I guess it's safety is not completely for certain, but then what is???
