Hi,
I just was wondering about something. I attempted suicide last April and was hospitalized. It was quite a traumatic experience and ever since I've had exaggerated flashbacks and severe, vivid night terrors, to the point I'm afraid to fall asleep. Could I possibly have caused myself PTSD??? Is that possible or is this just stress from what happened that will go away? I was just wondering.
Thanks,
-Angel

Memories may become less painful as time go but I don't believe it is totally go away. Unless you want specialist to put you on drug.

I have PTSD, and from my own personal experience, and knowing the symptoms in general, it sounds like it's a possibility that it is. The only way you'll ever know is if you go to the doctor to find out for sure though.

May I ask, what you did?
What exactly are you afraid of where you cannot sleep at night?

I wonder if what happened is what is called "retraumatization." Retraumatization occurs because once traumatized, we are more likely to become traumatized again. It can become something of a vicious cycle. The whole suicide experience certainly could have caused trauma, but be careful!! Don't blame yourself for something you probably didn't have a lot of control over at the time. See it as a learning experience if you can. Harry

Dear *Versailles*(Angel:angel: ),
Let me first say that if you need a safe place to come to; we are here.
As I am not familiar with your history, I will go out on a limb and say that you may have had symptoms prior. If you are unsure you can "share" with us and we will definitely provide feedback.
If you are not comfortable with going that route, speak with a therapist about it but by all means do not keep it bottled inside, PLEASE(said with sincerity).
Take care and God Bless.Love and respect, forthemasses only.
