I have been referred for a bone scan and SPECT scan of my jaw which is scheduled to take place on the 9th November. What kind of things might a bone scan show? The specialist has told me he's doing it to rule out other possibilities because I'm worried that I must have an undetected infection from an abscess tooth or something which is causing this dreadful pain. Will a bone scan show something like this up where a normal dental x-ray may have missed? My dentist has also offered to give me some more antibiotics for the pain (the only thing to help my pain is antibiotics), but I am slightly wary to take them in case it affects the outcome of the bone scan. Will taking the antibiotics affect it's outcome?
Also, my auntie died recently from osteomyelitis and I keep worrying that I have something like this going on in my jaw or face. Could something like this be detected on a bone scan which would help put my mind at rest on this one?

Hi Dale,
I wish I could help you. I don't know much about the bone scan but I can assist you building bone health with tips about herbal tonics, diet and exercise.
The skeletal system is regenerative. Every cell in the bones is replaced every 12 months, I think, so the better is your diet and physical activity, the more healthy is the cellular regeneration process.
It's good to avoid anutrients like sugar, alcohol, coffee, and cigarettes: these make it really difficult to improve skeletal condition.
Real foods, especially fruit, veges, nuts and herbs, and a bit of time outdoors, or at rest in bed, can help the bones and the whole body.
Best wishes for health and happiness, Sebastian.
