My son, almost 17 months, was diagnosed with reflux when he was a few weeks old. For many months now it hasn't been a problem. About a week or two ago once in a while he would have a "wet" burp and lose some of his lunch. Last Wed in the middle of the night he woke up gagging and did throw up a little bit. He was fine after and didn't at all act like when he does when he is sick. Just went right back to sleep. His appetite was fine the next day and he ate normally. It happened again last night in the middle of the night again. Same situation. Does the sound like a flare up of his reflux? He's always been on pepcid.

DS supposedly had reflux and was on zantac 'til he was about a year and a half. Once in awhile he won't eat as well 'cuz he's got constipation issues and he'll urp a bit up. Is he feeling well otherwise 'cuz other times we've had this problem and it's not being backed up, it's cuz he has a bit of a fever caused by an ear infection.

'Course the other night he slammed three juice boxes and urped all over our bed -- just a matter of overindulgence.

He is feeling fine otherwise, the throwing up doesn't even seem to bother him. No fever or anything. just seems to come out of nowhere. It happened again last night only this time he just gagged a few times, no barf. I called his ped this morning and am waiting for a call back. Our son has never been constipated, quite the opposite.

Could very well be reflux if it's really only happening at night. Could be a matter of just elevating his head -- we had ds's crib mattress elevated a few inches when he was an infant.

The other weird thing with some CFers is that they can be constipated and have the runs at the same time. Stickier poo. We once went to the doctor and a routine Xray showed a "lot of stool" in the colon and were told to give DS milk of mag twice a day to clear things out. He'd been pooing on a more than regular basis... Sometimes called a meconium equivalent -- things just sorta get backed up and need to be cleared out.

I have read about the elevated head thing, and they did do that while he was in the hospital but then I have also read that tummy sleeping is good, which he does. Plus knowing him, if I elevated one end of the crib he would sleep on the opposite end! Still waiting for the dr to call back.

Well the ped was absolutely no help, but the good news is that DS has been fine. No more gagging since Sun night. We haven't done anything different so who knows?
