I am a 54 year old man diagnosed with ADHD two years ago. I was also struggling with negative compulsive behaviors that I feel have it roots in ADD, especially since the ADD was diagnosed so late in life. Initially I was very pleased with the effects of Cocerta. It seemed to help me focus and be more effective at work. However, the last six months have been very difficult since I have been unable to "shake" the compulsive behavior. Four weeks ago I stopped taking Concerta and I have never felt better. I was sleeping better and I dealt with my lack of focus and disorganization by utilizing the procedures and tools I picked up to deal with ADD. Last week I had a very busy day at work and decided I might need some extra focus and stimulation. I took my normal 54mg Concerta. I soon was engaging in the compulsive behavior that I easily avoided for the last four weeks. I acept responsibility for my actions and I am not totally saying " The Concerta made me do it ".
However, I was wondering if anyone else has had a similiar experience because while I appreciate the positive benefits of this drug, I am probably going to try to go without it.
