I have a bad habit of picking at the skin on the roof of my mouth. There is this one area where the skin is a little rough and loose, and I pick at it at least once or twice a day - I do it without realizing it sometimes. My mom noticed and remarked, you are going to get puppet lines if you're not careful. The skin around my mouth does stretch a little when I do this, but is it really something that can make those lines more prominent? I'm 24, and am just now noticing some skin aging. I know that eating or laughing contributes to this too, but would this habit make it worse? I will put in my retainer from the orthodontist (I usually only wear it at night) when I find myself doing this. I think it's a nervous habit - I do it when I'm bothered or upset, but boredom causes it, too...
