hi, I'm 35 years old and have had asthma since I was an infant. I did have severe asthma and almost died, so doctor told my family to move from Maryland to florida, which did save my life.
I got better and most all the symptoms went away while I was a kid, except the attacks when I got colds or sick.
now I have found my asthma has returned and I'm currently on herbal treatment and it's working pretty good for me. I do still have attacks though. But not as bad.
I'm glad to see a board out there for this and help for those in need of help.
I could learn alot here to help me as well.

Krissy,
Could you tell me what herbal medications you are on? I have asthma, am 48 years old, and am on Advair which is an inhaled steroid. My asthma seems pretty controlled right now, and am always looking at ways to decrease or eliminate my steroid inhaler. Thanks, Cindy

welcome to the boards Krissy. I found this board only a short time ago and really like it. I'm sure we will all be able to learn quite a bit from your years of experience.
Welcome & God Bless,
Amanda

thanks guys for the warm welcome. :)
This is the respitory mix I use,
Chickweed herb, horehound, licorice root, mullien leaf, pleurisy root, saw palmetto berry, slippery elm bark, wild cherry bark, cayenne.
there is a local herb store located near my home...I'm always buying herbs from her, this store also sells online too. this is an awesome store, I love to go there all the time and buy, cause they have the freshest herbs I can find.
in addition to this, I also take echinacea, Cinnamon, Fish oil, St. Johns wart, Pau D' Arco, Ginseng, Vitamin c, B-12.....most of these are great for clearing up the lungs and ridding them of mucus. And also good for building the immune sysytem.
Also to an addition to the herbs, I aslo take vegetables that I hate in gelcap form. I dehydrate the veggies on a dehydrator then turn the dried pieces into powder for easy consumption.
I know how hard it is to breathe when you have asthma and everyday is a struggle. The feeling of not getting enough air is horrible.
This is all I'm currently on, and have not been on any prescription meds since I was an infant. But do think I need to see a doctor soon and get an inhaler just for emergiencies, I wan't to stay as natural as I can get.

Thanks for your reply, Krissy. I have heard of all of those herbs and how they benefit the lungs. Do you take all the herbs separately or are they in a pill form together? I take Fish Oil also. It is great for inflammation and also for the heart and female problems. It takes a little investigating but I think natural is the way to go if possible. I know some things do not help all people since all of our cases are different. It gives me some degree of satisfaction to be able to have some control over my asthma. I also know that eating right and a lot of exercise goes a long way to overall help. Good luck and thanks for the info.!!

I agree and think if anyone is going to go on herbal treatments, should also speak to their doctors to make sure there will be no side effects from whatever it is you are taking.
the echinacea, Cinnamon, Fish oil, St. Johns wart, Pau D' Arco, Ginseng, Vitamin c, B-12 are taken seperatley according to what the labels suggest. Like I will take two cinnamon pills a day, maybe three echinacea a day, etc.
the Chickweed herb, horehound, licorice root, mullien leaf, pleurisy root, saw palmetto berry, slippery elm bark, wild cherry bark, cayenne. they are already premixed at the herb store and she suggests that you take 4-6 capulses per day.
the store is www.leavesandroots.com
the vegetables, I arrange in groups, like different types of squash goes into a mix for my squash pills, then I will do others for my other pills. I usually aternate those, since I don't need the same vegetables everyday. I usually take two types of vegetable pills per day, usually about 2-3 gelcaps.
