I posted the other day about having a sore throat and swollen glands, and I wasn't sure if it was related to allergies or not. I have really bad mold allergies and this time of year it gets worse. But I don't think it would cause the swelling in my glands. I took my niece out for a long walk today, and I had a hard time breathing during and after. Now I am having a hard time breathing, not anything life threatening, but it feels tight and when I cough it's phlemy. I really don't want to go to the dr unless totally necesarry. I don't have insurance nor am I employed right now.

Sounds like you have the respiratory infection that is going around. Keep watch that you do not go into bronchitis or pneumonia.
Drink plenty of fluids, flush sinuses with saline solution, take a deconjestant if you tolerate it, or take a plain anahistamine. Take Mucinex (same thing as plain Robitussin but stronger and in pill form, over the counter) to help keep mucous thinned so the body can get rid of it. If you do not get better or if your chest becomes tight feeling, see a doctor, you can go into pneumonia with these respiratory problems. Keep check on your temperature. I did not have temperature with the infection but some people do.
What I had was a combination viral/bacteria respiratory infection and my body was not able to overcome it. Had to take a very strong antibiotic since I ended up with ba bronchitis and on verge of pneumonia. I resorted to using Afrin Nasal Spray while ill (not good to use long term, is habit forming).
Using a vaporizer in room is good too, keeps air moist, not too dry.

My mold allergies this time of year usually result in a sinus infection (which has happened to me this week). Sometimes they clear up on their own but genearally I need an antibiotic. I would not advocate it all the time but you may want to check with your local hospital about what their policy is with people that can't pay. Many times if you are on a limited income and no insurance then the hospital if they are a university hospital then they may not make you pay back etc. It's worth checking into. Sorry you are not feeling good.
Take care & hope you feel better soon.
