View Full Version : What did you think you had before you were told you had Fibromyalgia?

I have Fibro symptoms. I have to go to my Rhemy this Friday after 6 months of on and off pain.

At first I swore it was ALS or MS then BFS, then Neuropathy Diabeties, then Anxiety, now it's Lupus and recently back to Nero Diabeties. I am a mess. :dizzy: Because of the fact that I did not have insurance for a while (I have it now) I was thrown into this health anxiety rollercoaster and can't get off. I just want answers and to be able to deal with whatever I have once and for all.

My question is what did YOU think you have before you got the diagnosis of Fibro. Am I normal to think it's so many other conditions and to be sick with worry about it?

Hello Elda, I'm really sorry you are so worried about what may
be your problem. Sometimes when we don't know, we tend to
think the worst. I was older than most on this board when the
pain started after an arthroscopy on my knee. I was ''positive''
I had arthritis and even argued 2 years after all the test were done.
You have to trust your doctor after the tests and try to put all the ''what
ifs'' out of your mind. I know that's easier said than done. Please let
us know what the doctor says on Friday.

Before being diagnosed with FMS, our daughters were diagnosed with MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivity); and before that Irratible Bowel Syndrome. Still searching for the real answer.

This collection of symptoms is a heavy burden with few definitive answers. Take a deep breath and tackle what you can. Piece by piece your life will fall into something you will begin to call normal. It takes time (and money would be nice, but most of us don't have that).

Wanna laugh? I thought I was dying a slow, painful death. Sorry but it is true. It seem everyone with fibro have other diseases or conditions to deal with, it is just not one thing. Fibro loves to play games with all our previous illnesses, like teeth sensitivity, ears, knees, I know mine does. I tried to poke a little fun in this post. Good luck and take care

HI,
I'm 54 years old and thought I was getting an early start on old age  Everyone in my family thought I was just a whiner. Which I'm not but this dd sure could make a person that way!! I was dx'd with Diabetes first. Then about a year later dx's with Fibro,CSF, RA, prsorisis. and the wonderful sleep aneaSo now I figure what comes will come and I will deal with it. I have a very supporting husband and my sister tries to understand but hasn't quite made it. lol.
I think you are so worrlied about what you MIGHT have. Fibro loves worry, fear, angity and panic attacks and a whole number of other things so it can really get you in a flair.
You can't worry about what you might have. So see the silver linning and be glad of what you do not have.
Keep us posted, :) This is just my 2 cents worth. Best wishs, warmand gentle hugs and prays to you. Please excuse miss spelled words fibro fog today :o
