I dont know what happens to me, but sometimes, when Im going to sleep, I am awake, but I feel like Im being held down, and my body feels like...when your leg goes to sleep, that feeling.. also, I cant talk at all! I am also struggling to breathe. I dont know why this happening to me? Can it be because Im drifting off to sleep? I dont know. Can it be a sleeping disorder? Or am I just imagining it when I am drifting off to sleep.
Normally, when I fall asleep, Im out and dreaming. But sometimes, what I described happens. It has happened twice since I was in my brand new house. (Twice this year) . It is driving me nuts, its making me believe that one day I am really going to stop breathing in my sleep.

Can it be a disorder, or just the early phases of drifting to sleep?

hallucinations when falling asleep and waking are common but tell doc about it
actual breathing problems suggest a check for asthma

Sammeh,
Don't worry about it. It's called sleep paralysis and it happens to perfectly normal people. It can happen when we're especially tired or stressed. It also happens more often during afternoon naps although it can happen any time we try to go to sleep. When we sleep, our body is paralyzed. That's to protect us from acting out our dreams. Sometimes the body goes to sleep before the brain does. You may hear a buzzing or electrical sound in your head. You might feel pressure like someone is sitting on you and it's hard to breath. You might also hear people talking or moving (a common one is the feeling that someone sat down on your bed). Sometimes, when it happens to me, it feels like I'm levatating off the bed. LOL Darn! If only......... :D

I know it can be really frightening, but you won't stop breathing and you won't die. You'll either struggle to wake up and succeed, or your brain will catch up to your body and you'll finally fall to sleep. Get some rest.

oh and also, what can cause halucinations, and what can i do to not have them? The halucinations are just a part of it. They won't hurt you either. It's just dreaming, but you're in between being awake and asleep so it's sometimes frightening. Do you see things like snakes or spiders, or monsters? Those are some of the most common things people see. For me, it was alway really frightening faces. Lucky for me, when it happens now, I don't see anything frightening anymore. That takes a little practice but anyone can learn to do it
