Ok here goes. I am a 35 (almost 36) year old woman, married (unhappily) with 3 kids, 2 horses, 1 dog and a ferret. My kids are 13, 6.5, and 5. My middle child has for at least 3 years now displayed characteristics of being ADHD (according to the school officials). Personally, I suffer from bouts of depression, severe anxiety and panic disorder. My daughter is going to my doctor next month to be evaluated for ADHD. I have lived out of a bottle for years and I don't want that for her however her ability to focus and retain that focus is almost non existent. I feel as if I don’t have any choice left. We have tried everything from bribing her to discipline to a structured routine and behavioral attempts with little or no results. I do not want my daughter to have to go thru life in the manner in which I have but how young is too young for meds? I trust my doctor (boy was that hard to admit) I just don’t want my child medicated just to make it easier for the teachers (or myself) to cope with her. It is extremely tiring at times, but am I giving up by the meds? Is there an anterior method? Can anyone help? Please!
