Hello all. I got all my wisdom teeth removed 8 days ago and now I am having a little bit of pain in the lower right side of my mouth. It's not bad pain and I don't have any gross taste in my mouth, but it started yesterday and today it's just a little bit worse. Does this sound like a dry socket? The only symptom is pain so I'm hoping it will just go away soon with salt water rinsing. Any info would be appreciated.

IT IS not a dry socket. A dry socket is when you have a tooth pulled and the clot doesn't form and you hit the roof, can't sleep, etc. Caused by drinking thru a straw after the extraction or swishing your mouth too vigorously.

Thanks for the input. Any suggestions on what might be causing the pain?

Tooth sockets can take a long time to heal. I had a lower very back molar pulled years ago, and it took months before it really started feeling "healed". Last Thursday I had a bridge put on (I had the 2nd from the back, top right tooth pulled on May 14th). The gum around the socket is sore...my dentist says it will just be slow to heal. I flos under the bridge (I dip the floss in peroxide; hope that'll help). The socket/gum area just feels irritated, swollen a bit. Do you rinse your mouth with salt/water? This is said will help dry up the pocket. I also don't think you have a dry socket. It just takes time to heal those sockets up. You'll be okay; it just takes time. Any drastic changes, see your dentist ASAP. Good luck to you...Deb47
