Has anyone had a knee replacement and had good results? I am thinking about getting this done in Jan and i need both knee's done (not at the same time). Im petrified, and i also have sleep apnea! I am 69yrs old, and dont want to put this off too much longer, as my "quality of life" is not where it should be! Any helpful information would be greatly appreciated........ :)

Hi Pearl,
I had my first knee done in 2002 at a local hospital and it is still not too good. The recovery was very long and painful. The second knee was done last year in a big city hospital with much better results and a much shorter stay in hospital, much quicker recovery and a very much smaller scar. I am glad I had them done-only wish I had found the second doctor before the first operation. I can only suggest you find a doctor who does the newer procedure. Best wishes to you.

Thanks Casey......................So what is the "new" procedure? I feel very confident with my doc, i have been to 2 specialists. Unfortunately i hear more negative than positive with this type of surgery. All i know is that i have to get this done..................... :)

Hi Pearl,
I'm going to check in all the papers they gave me to see if I can find out exactly what they call the operation. I think it was called Minimumly Invasive surgery. I was in the hospital two weeks with first knee and only five days with the second. I know how much you want to have it done. It is so great to be able to walk around again without the pain. I'll be back after I check the information.

Hi again,
I found it. They call it Mini Invasive Total Knee Replacement. If you have any questions please ask. I hope I can help. It is a lot to go through but so worth it. You will be so happy you had them done.
