Yesterday, I had 3 cavities filled and had 5 shots to accomplish it. After the numbness went away yesterday, my teeth were still very sensitive while trying to eat something. I figured it was ok since it was only the first day. Today, I ate again and there was still pain. It wasn't as bad, but was wondering how long it migth last or maybe there is a problem with one of the fillings. Please reply if you know anything about this situation. Thanks.

Hi,

I had the same problem, however, that doesnt mean thats what is going on. I ended up needing a root canal. Sometimes, it will take a long time (even up to 2 months) for the nerves to completly settle down after a filling! Thats what i was told. And after 2 months the throbbing and hot/cold sensitivity went away, but I still couldnt chew on it because it really hurt. It thats the case, I would have it rechecked. You may need a root canal. But if you feel it getting better everyday, give it some time. You may just need to let it heal.

Good Luck

Cantrell:

It can take up to a month or two but if your fillings came close to the root, beware because you will probably need a root canal which is what happened to me. My filling was between the teeth and the dentist filled too close to the nerve. My pain was no better and worse than before the filling. The root canal has helped but it cost a lot of money. 900.00.
Hope this helps.
