I am currently being tested for MS but the symptoms I just read on your board are just about identical to what I am feeling! Are these two diseases closely related? Or maybe one in the same? and no one has admitted it (I mean the medical community)????

Hi Greeneyesofblue,
I was tested for MS also. My doctor said that he needed to rule that out because some of the symptoms are similar. My results were normal. Then i was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I suppose your doctor is doing the same. Many of the people that post here were tested for MS.

The similarities are uncanny. Can you work? Does Fibromyalgia qualify you for Disability? I can barely make it through the day right now and have expired my sick leave and nearly all of my vacation! Plus I have three kids!

Hello. I was diagnosed with MS five years ago. I haven't been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, but I am starting to have more symptoms of that, plus I was also diagnosed with Raynaud's a couple of years ago. Lately I have been having a lot of back and neck pain. On some days I get that general over all achy feeling. It is also very hard to get up in the morning. I recently got a copy of my spinal tap that i had done during the diagnosis process and it showed that there were some abnormalities, but there were no Oilgoclonal Bands, which is present in about 95% of MS patients. Did you have a Spinal Tap? I also have a family history of MS. But I was diagnosed rahter quickly, which makes me think that i might have been misdiagnosed. Anyway, sorry for rambling. Your post caught my eye and I just wanted to share my story. I hope you get some answers soon.

Well I have pernicious anemia(B12 deficiency)and was tested for MS as well. I think in similar symptoms they just go through series of tests to rule out more life threatening conditions before they come to fibromyalgia.

Thanks.....my MRI is tomorrow. However, my tests for blood sugar levels have come back high, I had gestational diabetes during my three pregnancies. I just don't know if diabetes can be causing the sypmtoms I am having.....
Hopefully I will have some answers soon.
