I was surprised to hear the expression tongue tied is an actual condition and can be fixed by snipping the sinew under the tongue to enable the tongue to have more movement. My kid is going to see a specialist about it. Has anyone had a kid that does not speak really clearly who has had this done and seen any improvement in pronounciation? The proceedure is being investicated for dental reasons mainly as her toungue is pushing her teeth forward.

I had my tongue untied when I got my wisdom teeth out. Wasn't bad at all. And yes, there was an improvement in my speech. It didn't make it perfect, but it certainly helped. My only problem during the healing was that a little piece of skin was still attached and it drove me nuts.

I didn't have to go to a specialist, my oral surgeon took care of it for me.
