Hey all,
My weight has always fluctuated once i was little. Wouldnt exactly call me fat more just overweight at times. I gained 10kgs after 6 months in Canada - back in Australia - that was 10 years ago and never lost it.Im 75kgs plus 5'7" medium frame.Ive always wanted a healthy diet regime but so hard to get into and self control.Same with exercise..gyms arent an option for me...
I am trying to jog every 2nd day and do lots of exercises and light weights every other day. Anyone got suggestions as to safest healthiest quickest ways to lose weight?.Any particular execises or diets?.Been meaning to lose the extra 10kgs..has affect on my mood etc.Oh im 36- and yeah hard to lose it older one gets from what i read....
thanks
Nigel

Fastest Saftest and Healthiest are not compatible. The fastest diets are the most dangerous.
The best way to lose is slowly and steadily over a long period of time...at a rate similar to the rate the weight was gained so aim to lose the 10 kg. (22 pounds) over the next 6 months by resticting the number of calories you're eating.
Ballpark: 22 pounds of fat is 77,000 calories divided by 183 days is 421 calories less per day, say 500.
A chore, but not horribly difficult.
Any exercise you can add will lower that 500 calorie number somewhat.

I am in total agreement with Lenin on this. The fastest quickest safest healthiest way to lose is an oxymoron. Do not think diet think way of life. It was when I changed my thinking is when I saw results..Lisa

I aggree, its a total life style change. I've been dieting for years now (saying that i'm only 18) In my past attempts ive been so unhappy, but now by eating a balenced sensible diet combined with vigorous housework i'm less hungry, happier, and the weight lost will stay off and not come back with a vengence like usual.

keep track of your calories. Most people have no idea and always estimate incorrectly.
two things to avoid like the plague
hydrogenated oils
high fructose corn syrup

is there an easy way to count your calories? i use the labels when they are there but what about when i make myself a salad or a sandwhich. Is there a quick way to find out how many calories i intake each day?

samizzle,
THe nutrition lists are wonderful aids but when they don't exist, I use the USDA database:
http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/
Since your tax dollars pay for the list, you might as well use it.
GET a diet or a postal scale (digital is best) that goes to at least 2 pounds.
For a sandwich...2 slices bread (usually 200 calories ...from the package)
Weight the meat or cheese...look up the numbers (Thuman's and Boars Head have brochures for all their deli products...use these for ANY deli food)
Consider lettuce and the like free
Condiments use the numbers on the bottle per Tbsp.
Once you have this number put it on the last page as SALAMI SANDICH...and then all you need do is copy this number into your daily list every time you make the same thing.
It gets easier and easier.
(Have the diet soda...they are FREE as are coffee tea etc.)
My coffee is 20 calories...12 ounces of coffee, 1 ounce (measured in a shot glass) fat free half and half (20), 1/3 of a packet of nutrasweet.
I have 3 coffees befopre breakfast...60 calories marked down immediately
You'll catch on fast.
Get a big fat spiral note book...mine is 4x6" and 180 pages (360 days worth!)
I do weekly and monthly averages to keep tabs and I record my morning weight next to the date at the top of each page.
