Last April I had a screw inserted into the scaphoid bone of my left hand. It is a really bad bone to break because it has a really poor flow of blood. I'm entering the 8th month of recovery. I'm able to lift weights and there relatively is little pain. However, if I push someone in a joking manner, or a catch a football thats coming in too hard it hurts. I love baseball and I know right now I'm unable to swing a bat and hit a ball.
Has anybody ever had this surgery? Or does anyone know about recovery for screw insertion surgeries?
How long should this be hurting...or will it never heal? I'm only 21 and I had one of the best surgeons in Phila******a correct it.

Have you checked with the surgeon about the ongoing pain? Sometimes after surgery, hardware causes problems and has to be removed. Or it could be some other issue. Or it could just be normal for the type of injury and surgery you had and the stage of healing you are at. (And quit pushing people, it's not nice...) :-)

Well I've read that it could take 6-12 months for the pain to go away. So i'm not really worried yet. However, its been about the same level of pain for 2 months. I'm going for another visit during Christmas break. I just hope this isn't something that never heals.
