Hello, I am wondering if anyone else on this board has tried Yerba Mate, and then had it affect their sleep in any way?

I drank 2 or 3 cups of it yesterday, in the late afternoon, then fell to sleep as normal that evening. Later I was woken from a deep sleep by nausea, and dizziness, feeling a bit feverish as well. Worse of all my heart was racing so fast I thought it would stop altogether. I have experienced panic attacks before but not that woke me out of a dead sleep and, besides, this felt physiological as opposed to psychological.

Does anyone know if there is any danger in using yerba, or if the tea i had was just too strong? If anyonw does IŽd appreciate a post, because IŽve just splashed out on an expensive bag of the stuff (with the intention of using it to replace ordinary coffee) and IŽd rather not toss it unless i absolutely have to!

Yerba Mate is my choose of tea and coffee substitute. I drink two cups in the mornings and it gives me a buzz- a strong buzz. But I don't have the come down caffine gave me and I am not addicted to it like coffee.
I would never drink it in the afternoon or evening unless I want to stay up. It could cause anxiety. I have mine with soy milk which waters it down.
Try to drink it early on.
As for the nausea, some people say they get that with it. It is a potent herb. It has many medicinal properties and minerals in it.
