Hello friends,
Is anyone out there on the methadone 5mg tablets? If so, could you tell me what they look like? My friend found some pills in her step-daughter dresser at their house. Apparently her Mom is on methadone and my friend is worried that she is stealing them or something (teenager with history of drug use). I know they aren't the same as my 10mg tablets. They are small, round, white, with a M in a square on one side and a 5 on the other side. I'd appreciate anyone's input. My friend is at her wits end and doesn't want to accuse or even tell her husband about it without being sure...

wow, i hope not, but any pills that someone has that isnt perscribed to them is going to be a problem.....and if someone is taking methadone, worry about a bigger problem like them taking oxyC and using methadone as an interim drug so they dont go throw withdrawles....

that pill is not methadone it is roxicodone 5mg which is oxycodone 5mg

That is bad, but he is right. I take oxycodone hcl for br, 5mg. that is hte pill.Thats a prob if she is abusing those....

Thanks guys! My internet went screwy last night so I coulnd't read any responses. So I ended up calling my pharmacy and talking to my pharmacist and he told me what it was. So I called my friend back and she is veeeeery upset. Understandably. The relationship between herself, her husband, and his daughter is volatile to say the least. So, today she has to break the news to her hubby. Yikes.

the 5 mg Methadone I have says " Methadone' and 5 on the pill..are small white pills........same as the 10 mg pills it says "Methadone" 10...are a much larger white pill..... I took Methadone for nearly 2 years... worked my way up to 20 mg 3 times a day.... and when they decided to take me off of it, they put me on Elavil to help me to not have withdrawl symptoms... but I did find comming off of it to be quite easy... but to be quite honest, I do not know why someone would get addicted to it, it didn't, atleast with me it didn't give me any kind of euphoric or high feeling, it put me smooth to sleep...I was nonfunctional on it.....and it did little for the pain, I know everyone is different, but thats my experience with it. as far as Oxycontin or Oxycodone ER... my pills are small white pills that say E702 on one side and 10 on the other....mine is Oxycontin ER 10mg... which is extended release...

Wild Rose: Sorry, the Methadone pills are not like you described at all, unless you were talking about the brand pill, Dolophine and I don't recall off hand what those say on them. I'm looking at my Meth 10 right now and on one side it's just scored and on the other side it says "54" and under that it says "142". These are the 10 mg made by Roxanne.

I have looked up the methadone mg. tabs and have not found any 5 mg. in any brand. I found it to be very addictive and have had very bad withdrawals going off of it. My doc did not titrate me down properly. The withdrawal I experienced with a virus when I was vomiting my meds was the worst experience I ever had. I ran across the yard in my nightgown at 5 a.m. one morning in 16 deg. winter. I was going to my parent's house next door. It was worse than morphine withdrawal.

There definitely is a 5 mg Methadone tab. There's also a 40 mg wafer, 10 mg tab and a 10 mg/ml liquid (for injection). Go to Medco.com and click on prescription drugs. It will give you a full breakdown of all prescription drugs.
